Lydia Isabel Burnham

Lydia “Lily” Espinoza Burnham, 72, of Schertz Texas passed away on Friday, September 1st at 9:30 am surrounded by her loving family after bravely battling cancer. She was born on August 4th, 1951 in David, Panama to Isabel Espinoza. She is survived by her loving daughter Brittney Burnham, her loving son Renan Garcia, Grandson Andrei Garcia, and son-in-law Jose Flores. Beloved sister of Magda, Tonio, Yari, Ailka, Tito, Juancho, Enrique, Gladys, and Marisol.

After growing up in the beautiful rural town of Boquete, she moved to the capital of Panama, Panama City. There she pursued her studies and graduated to become a dental Hygienist. Throughout those years, she helped her brothers and sisters move to the capital to yield better opportunities, and gave birth to her son Renan Garcia.

During the 80’s, Panama was under a dictatorship, which made living conditions unstable. Lily made the big decision to venture to the United States for a better life for her and her son. In 1989 she had her daughter, Brittney Burnham. Traveling the world as an Air Force wife and mother, she made lifelong friendships along the way, and ultimately settled in Schertz, TX in 2004. After proudly graduating from Waylan Baptist University San Antonio, she joined the Financial Aid Advisor team at the Alamo Community Colleges.

Lily was a hardworking, loving mother. A loyal and unselfish friend, and an esteemed and respected colleague. Lily unconditionally and unselfishly loved her children and supported them all her life, throughout all their highs and lows. In her free time, Lily loved spending quality time with family and friends. She was always thrilled to play Rummy, board games, and dice games. And she enjoyed traveling to Panama to visit her family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
