Robert (Bob) Alan Statzer, age 84, of Schertz, Texas passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, after a brief illness at Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio. Bob was born on May 26, 1938, in Hamilton, Ohio, the son of the late Robert Carl and Nida Statzer. He is survived by his cherished wife of over 47 years, Suzy Statzer.
Bob grew up in Campbellstown, Ohio and graduated in 1956 from Jackson Township High School. After graduation, he worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation acquiring land for many of the interstate highways in Southwestern Ohio. He remained close with many classmates after graduation and throughout his entire life. He moved to Texas in the early seventies and called the San Antonio-area his home for the last 30 plus years. He retired 2006 from the Right-of-Way division of San Antonio Water System and enjoyed traveling Texas in an RV with Suzy.
In addition to his wife, Suzy (Martha Sue Embry), Bob is survived by sons Bill (wife Kerri) Statzer and Brent (wife Beverly) Statzer, daughter Krista (husband Tim) Thornsberry and stepchildren Dax Melton and Kimberly (husband Randy) Larsen. Together they have 10 grandchildren: Christopher Statzer, Zachary Statzer, Hollie Statzer Sparrow, Jacob Statzer, Kristin Mann, David Mann, Dax Melton Jr., Mason Melton, Brandon Larsen, Cole Larsen, and 1 great grandchild: Leo Melton.
