Mary Morales

June 28, 1937 — September 26, 2020

Mary Jo Morales, age 83, from Live Oak, Texas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 26,2020 as a resident of St. Francis Nursing Home.

Born on June 28, 1937 in Des Moines, Iowa to William & Goldie Lewellin. Mary Jo was one of thirteen children.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a Sister in Christ. She was active in ACTS for many years, she did hospital ministry at N.E. Baptist Hospital, served on the Pastoral Council, and helped with RCIA. She was friend to many and enjoyed outings to breakfast or lunch with her fellow Sisters. Mary Jo enjoyed Mass celebrations, family gatherings, Face Book, and the Dallas Cowboys. As a fan, she often chanted, “How bout them Cowboys!”

She was a single mother of 7 children and provided a solid foundation for them. Even with a large family she always gave extra time for anyone who may have needed it. Her smile was contagious and was filled with the love she carried in her heart. She always provided love & support to her family and friends. This special woman is also known as Grandma Joey to many. She was always thoughtful and thought of everyone and loved sending mail. You did not have to be family to receive a note or card from her on a special occasion. She had enough love to share with everyone, and she always shared it. She was graceful and she was giving.

As a dedicated woman, she was given a management position by Sheldon Boyce. She dedicated 35 years of her life to The Establishment and High Key Apartments as the Office Manager. This opportunity provided her a great life- and for that she was grateful.

Mary Jo is survived by her children Anthony Morales & wife Janie Morales, daughter Diane Garcia & husband Roger Garcia, son Ric Morales & wife Donna Morales, daughter Patti Benke, son John Morales & wife Diana Morales, son Andy “Doobie” Morales & wife Patricia Morales, son Paul Morales & wife Brenda Morales; seventeen Grandchildren, twenty-two Great-Grandchildren, and three Great-Great Grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her sister Wilma Johnson and many other loved ones.
