Elizabeth Gresser-Adamcik

Elizabeth Gresser-Adamcik (Betty Adamcik) heard the call and took God’s hand to follow him on May 9, 2020. She was born in Cold Spring, MN, to Norbert and Anna Gresser. She is survived by her loving husband, Tony Adamcik; daughters, Sandy Durke of San Antonio, TX; Diane Perkins and husband Rick of Friendswood, TX; and son, Richard Meyer and wife Sally of Kennewick, WA. She had fourteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother, Norbert Gresser and wife Margie of Cold Spring, MN; sisters, Mary Ann Manuel of Wacovia, MN, and Maggie Annschild of Bend, OR. She was a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Betty is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Charles Gresser.

Betty called many places home during her lifetime, including Minnesota, California, Texas, Mississippi, Germany, Hawaii, Holland, Colorado, Utah, and Florida. She always returned to San Antonio, TX, and made it her final home. She received a BAAS from Texas State University at San Marcos, TX, by going to night school and working during the day. She worked for Civil Service at Fort Sam Houston and Randolph AFB but also worked in Holland and Denver in the Civil Service Comptroller Division. Later she had a small accounting service. In retirement, she was involved in many activities in her Roseheart community.

Betty --in all the places she lived in her lifetime--was always a faithful and active participant and leader in her Catholic church community. In 1990 while at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, she was one of the initial ACTS Team Leaders, and organized a church pilgrimage to Medugorje. While at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) in 1996, she initiated a support group for those who were divorced. While in Niceville, FL, she organized a prayer group at her parish; and in 2009 at St. Padre Pio Catholic Church in San Antonio, she organized a Bereavement Ministry. Upon her return to OLPH, Betty was actively involved in a variety of ministries. She was a faithful Catholic who would never miss a weekend mass nor her daily Catholic Devotional Readings.

A Rosary Service and Funeral Mass at OLPH in Selma, TX, will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2020 with a Rosary at 9:30 and Mass at 10 AM. A trailblazer again, this will be the very first service at OLPH in the COVID-19 restrictions era. Attendees will need to wear masks and maintain social distancing at these services. Interment will be at Fort Sam Houston Cemetery - TBD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Research Center or The OLPH Church Building Fund. Arrangements are under the care of Schertz Funeral Home and Crematory.
