Xavier Gomez

July 12, 1972 — August 21, 2022

Xavier C. Gomez, “Aver, Javi, X-Man” age 50, former resident of Live Oak, TX, peacefully passed away Sunday, August 21st, 2022.

He was born on July 12th, 1972 in San Antonio, TX to the parents of Rafael and the late Rafaela Gomez. Growing up, he was very close to his family and friends. A funny memory of Xavier as a child was the day he had been stung in the eyes by a bee. His best friends Claud and little Manuel came over. They both said “open your eyes!” he responded “they are open stoopid!!”

Some of his favorite activities were bike riding, skating, swimming, playing video games, going to the gun range and wrestling, his favorite wrestler was Stone Cold Steve Austin. He also loved movies, grilling with his family and friends, riding rollercoasters, listening to music from his favorite artist, Rob Zombie, and eating his favorite pizza from Peter Piper Pizza.

Xavier was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a P.F.C. from 1988 to 1997 and in Desert Shield – Desert Storm. He worked as a Janitor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and as a bartender at Darlene’s, Deer Crossing, Joint City Base, and Rubens.

When you interacted with him, he was happy and always smiling. He had such a contagious smile with everyone he interacted with. Those who knew Xavier, know that he would give you the shirt off his back with no questions asked. He made friends everywhere he would go.

He is preceded in death by his mother Rafela Gomez and his brother Julius Gomez.

He is survived by his father Rafael Gomez, sisters Katherine Gomez and Cruzinita Campos, his nieces; Jennifer Downer, Sabrina Smitley, and Graciela Gomez, his nephews; Christian Downer, Kenneth Smitley, and Kevin Jaime, his great-niece and nephew; Isabella and Sebastian, and his son Dakota, his wife Jessica, and his grandsons Wyatt and Daniel Bugg.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at NE Methodist, Metropolitan Methodist and the V.A. for going above and beyond.
