William Jones

On Friday morning, April 22, 2022, William Franklin Jones (Bill), at the age of 78, passed away peacefully in his home and went to be with the Lord.  Born in Brownwood, Texas on September 17, 1943, Bill, at an early age, moved from Batesville, Texas to Uvalde, Texas with his mother, father, and brother. For 6 years, Bill was a DPS State Trooper, followed by several years as a shift sergeant for the Southwest Texas State University Police Department, as he pursued his college degree in criminal justice.  After his career in law enforcement, he enjoyed the next 23 years as a vocational teacher, where his students won many state titles in job interview competitions. Bill was a caring and very honest man who overcame many trials in his life.  Nothing pleased him more than to be with his family at every opportunity.  His loyalty to his family and friends was a mainstay throughout his life. In his later years, he was led to find a church in which his family and he cherished worshipping with his new-found church family.  Over the last two years, he began to give his heart and his attention to the Lord through his growing interest in hearing and learning the Word of God. Dad, along with his wife and son, was baptized as a profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Bill is preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Beard-Jones, and father, William Aaron Jones.  Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Pollok Jones, his sons, William Vince Jones-Mueller (Melanie), Lance Blair Jones (Tina), William Aaron Jones II, his brother, Thomas Harold Jones (Anne), grandchildren, Marley, Aiden, Manna Jones, and numerous nephews and nieces.  A special and abundant thanks is to be given to the Cibolo Creek Bible Church family, including Nathan, Steve, Gerald, Cheryl, Sandra, Pete, Regina, Greg, Alan, Lynn, Joseph, Zac, Luther, Marisa, Ashley, along with many others who welcomed Bill into the CCBC family, and prayed unceasingly for him during his illness. Visitation will be held on Thursday April 28, 2022 from 5pm to 7pm at Schertz Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held on Friday April 29, 2022 at 10am at Holy Cross Cemetery.
