Ozella Marie Ranford was born on January 23, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Ed Jones, Jr. and Cora W. Jones. She was the youngest of eight siblings. Ozella transitioned from her earthly vessel to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 7, 2023.
She accepted our Lord and Savior at an early age under the leadership of Reverend L.V. Booth, Zion Baptist Church Cincinnati, Ohio. She served on many boards at Zion Baptist Church.
She graduated from Withrow High School, Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1967. She married her sweetheart Nathaniel on October 23, 1971, at Zion Baptist Church; they were blessed with two sons from this union.
Ozella was faithful to her husband, family, and church as they relocated around the country due to various promotions by her husband. She kept busy as a Claim Adjustor for Allstate Insurance in Chicago, Illinois, Clerk for the Public Defender Office in New Jersey, and a teacher at Newton High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She continued to serve the Lord by obtaining a four-year degree from The Monmouth Bible Institute of New Jersey.
She always liked working with people. She participated in many functions at various churches as she moved around with her husband and family. Her latest service was volunteering for the Salvation Army in New Braunfels, Texas, from 2015 to 2021, where they affectionately called her “Mom”.
At Resurrection Baptist Church, she served on the Parking Ministry.
Ozella’s favorite hobby was sending out cards. Many of you received holiday greeting cards, birthdays, anniversaries, Get Well, or a card saying, “I am thinking of you”.
Ozella leaves to cherish her memory her husband Nathaniel I; two sons, Nathaniel II Ranford, Tyree Ranford; three grandchildren, Oneshia, Isaiah, and Nicole; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Jaasia; and three sisters and one brother. There are also a host of brother-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dearest friends.
Thanks to all our family and friends who sat, talked, and prayed with her in the last days of her life. We greatly appreciate you and your kindness.
