Lee Daney

February 4, 1933 — April 7, 2022

Lee Earnest Daney United States Air Force (retired) 89 years young began life 4 February 1933 in Manning South Carolina. He was born to Lionel Daney & Lucille Felder of South Carolina and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday April 7, 2022. Lee knew Christ as his personal savior as he read his favorite maroon colored bible every single day while spending time with the Lord.

Lee proudly served his country by joining the United States Air Force in June 1952. He began his military career successfully completing Basic Military Trng at Lackland AFB, Tx. He then completed training as a Logistical Supply Technician and held several positions in supply ranging from technician duties to supervising and managing numerous warehouse and flight line personnel. Lee’s assignments include tours at Roswell AFB NM , Wurtsmith AFB MI, and Holloman AFB NM. His overseas tours included the Korean War Conflict and the Vietnam War (Thailand). He was awarded the Small Arms Marksmanship medal and the AF Commendation Medal. Lee retired as a Technical Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated honorable service on August 1st 1972.

Upon his retirement he held several positions for different companies such as Jack Kellmer Jewelry Co, Bally’s Hotel and Casino, CertainTeed Product company and worked for over 15 years as a Campbell Soup Co. Warehouse manager where he oversaw 3 supervisors and 39 employees. During his time there he was recognized for several different awards.

Lee was a loving husband and father and will be remembered by his loving and dedicated wife of 65 years Virginia Daney and his children: Cynthia Daney-Moore, Shayne Daney, Patrice Daney, Patrick Daney, Shanta Daney, Shannon Daney and Ulysses Mack. He loved sports, coached many of his kids teams and was awarded his Black Belt in Karate from the Academy of Tang Soo Do. Lee is preceded in death by his brother Roosevelt Daney. His surviving brothers and sisters are: Dorothy Scott, John Milton Daney, Herbert Daney, Lionel Daney Jr.

Lee Earnest as he was affectionately called by Virginia was a loving family man who had a soft spot in his heart for all children and animals. He enjoyed his grandchildren Cheyenne Moore, Shayne Daney Jr., Shayla Daney, Tevin Daney, Terrance Ross, Gabrielle Hicks , Jayden Daney and his great grandchildren Andre Daney, Adrian Daney, Anayah Daney and Aria Charles. Lee is also survived by his ‘Best Buddy” Shea-Shea…his dog.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday 3 May 2022 at Resurrection Baptist Church Schertz Tx. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 PM, with Full Military Honors.
