Kerri Lenhard

February 8, 1973 — February 28, 2023

Kerri Leigh Hancock Lenhard, 50, of Kyle, Texas, passed away on February 28, 2023. Kerri was born on February 8, 1973, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Daniel Edwards Hancock and Laura Lee Hancock.

Kerri was an incredibly loving and supportive daughter, sister, and wife who always put others before herself. After spending a childhood in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the family moved to San Antonio, where Kerri graduated from Judson Senior High School in 1991 and later attended the University of Northern Colorado. She bought her first home in Converse, Texas, and became an alumna of the Converse Citizen’s Police Academy. After retiring from First Baptist Academy, where she worked as a grade school teacher for 24 years, Kerri then pursued her passion for supporting police work.

In December of 2022, Kerri married Mike and had just begun her future of celebrating finding the love of her life. She also recently celebrated her 50th birthday with her beloved husband, family, and friends.

Kerri was an animal lover and had three cats, Sunshine, Anya, and Chloe. She was also a woman of faith who believed in serving her family and friends with selfless love and compassion. Her commitment to God led her to help anyone she encountered at any time. Kerri was known to be a second mother to her nephews, a caring teacher, and a mentor to all her students, always taking time to help her parents with anything they needed and being there for her friends, who were also her family, at the drop of a hat. If she wasn’t offering her love and compassion, she always shared a smile that lit up any room she entered and a laugh that touched everyone. Kerri’s ability to give unconditional love to those she met will forever inspire those she has left behind.

Kerri enjoyed returning to Colorado to visit friends and family while sharing these experiences with her husband. She and Mike also enjoyed traveling across the country and Canada to share the beauty God has created.

Kerri lived a life full of faith and generous moments until the end. Left to cherish her memory are her father, Daniel Edwards Hancock; her mother, Laura Lee Hancock; her beloved husband, Michael David Lenhard; her sister Heather Danielle Hancock Peeler and her two nephews, Adler and Brayden Peeler, whom she loved like her own children.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.

-2 Corinthians 1:3-4

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name. Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me. You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings. Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

-Psalm 23

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

-Psalm 34:18
