Juan "Johnny" Martinez, Jr.

January 21, 1960 — July 27, 2022

Johnny was born January 21st, 1960, on Travis AFB in Fairfield, California to Juan Martinez and Mary De La Cruz Martinez. He went to be with our Lord on Wednesday July 27th, 2022.

Because of his father’s military career, Johnny spent his childhood traveling around the United States and spent some time in Spain. His family settled in Universal City, Texas where Johnny was a graduate of Samuel Clemens High School, having excelled in automotive paint & body. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Gloria Ely (Martinez). They were married in 1980 and began to raise a family. Friends & family enjoyed weekends at his house playing volleyball or having the occasional bonfire. An avid outdoorsman, Johnny enjoyed camping, hunting, hiking, and catching waves at the beach. As a painter, he worked for companies such as KCI and Shook Mobile Tech where he was head of the paint department. There was no job that he couldn’t do, and his knack for perfectionism made him an expert in his field.

Johnny is preceded in death by his mother Mary De La Cruz Martinez. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Martinez, daughter Amy Martinez, son Christopher Martinez (Vianey), grandchildren Lilly Martinez, Camille Martinez, Tulia Martinez, Adalyn Martinez, and Olivia Martinez, father Juan Martinez, sister Sylvia Martinez, brother Robert Martinez (Teresa), brother Andy Martinez (Terry), sister Shirley Martinez, sister Grace Martinez-Smith, brother George Martinez (Debbie), niece Jennifer Martinez (Terrell), niece Candace Herrera, niece Breana Herrera, nephew Robert Martinez, nephew Diego Martinez, as well as numerous other family members and lifetime friends.
