Jennifer Cernoch

November 26, 1956 — July 23, 2021

Jennifer Cernoch, 64, died peacefully at her home on July 23, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas.
Jennifer was born in Weimar, Texas to Joe and Loretta Cernoch on November 26, 1956. She enjoyed her childhood with her brother Dan and sister Beckie.
After graduating from Bishop Forest High School in Weimar, Jennifer earned her undergraduate and Master’s degrees in speech pathology from Our Lady of the Lake University. There she met her soulmate, Tom Bailey, who she was with for 40 years. They married on November 12, 1983 while Jennifer was earning her doctorate from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Jennifer forged her own career path and worked for a number of non-profits, including Project Any Baby Can, Family Voices, and Operation Homefront Texas, with her career culminating in the position of Vice President of Development for Soldiers’ Angels where she raised funding for veterans and active duty military members.
Jennifer loved deeply and was passionate about making the world a better place. Her strong presence could be felt as soon as she entered the room. People gravitated towards her generous and loving spirit. She could make a stranger feel like an old friend within minutes of meeting them. She truly cared for everyone.
When not changing the world, Jennifer loved to play slots in Las Vegas and walk barefoot along the beach in Port Aransas. She was equally happy watching a Hallmark Christmas movie as she was watching a murder mystery. Her true love, besides her family and work, was fried chicken fingers with cream gravy.
Jennifer is survived by her husband, Tom Bailey and daughter, Caitlin Bailey. She is also survived by her brother, Dan Cernoch; sister, Beckie Berger (David) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their children. She is also survived by her granddog, Camie.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Loretta Cernoch, and her niece, AnaLise Long.
