Elizabeth Absheer

Olivia Elizabeth (Starr) Absheer was reunited with her family and loved ones for a joyous heavenly reunion on Sunday, June 26th, 2022, in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Elizabeth was born June 10, 1938, to Marshall and Eula Lee Starr on the family farm in Frio County Texas. To her family and friends, she was known as Betty. Her father lovingly called her “Handy Andy” because she was so handy to have around the house and farm.

Betty attended school in Charlotte, Texas for nine years, and then Pearsall, TX schools when the family moved. Betty graduated from Pearsall High School in 1956. Betty worked at various companies as a young woman, but banking was her career choice. She witnessed many changes in banking throughout the 40 years she devoted to the industry. A much-loved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty married Ernest Rawlin Absheer, an airman, in 1960. They had three beautiful little girls, Jennifer, Tamela (Tammy), and Sandra (Sandy).

Betty is preceded in death by her daughter Jennifer Absheer Varelans, parents Marshall and Eula Lee Starr, brothers Jimmy (Minnie) Starr, Jerry Starr, Robert (Linda) Starr, sisters Della Jo Shaw, and Catherine Starr Snowden. She is survived by daughters Tamela (Christopher) Brown, Sandy (Paul) Anderson, and son in law Mike Varelans. Grandchildren Lindsey, Ashley (Mitch), Kendall (LC), Gillian and Donovan. Great grandchildren, Olivia, Zachary, Aubrey, Marshall, and Atticus Lee.

Betty requested that donations on her behalf be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Schertz Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 PM. The Funeral Service will take place the following day on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home. Services will conclude on Friday, July 8, 2022 with a Graveside Service at 10:30 AM at the Pearsall Cemetery in Pearsall, TX.
