William Stucky

William Robert "Papa" "Bill" Stucky of San Antonio, Texas passed Sunday August 17th, 2008 at the age of 76. He was born August 2nd, 1932 in Goodhue County, Leon Township, Minnesota. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1950 and joined the US Air Force in 1952. In 1958 he met and married Patricia L. Bany of Waverly, IA while she was a school teacher in Waterville, MN, Bill's hometown. Together they raised their three daughters; Eva, Liz and Katie, making their home in Rosemount, MN before moving to San Antonio in 1981. Bill was a retired journeyman carpenter (UBCJ) and served in both the US Air Force and Minnesota Air National Guard. During his life, Bill was an active member of the Boy Scouts in San Antonio, helping to found Troop 90 at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church. He was called by his church in 1990 to help build a Lutheran Church in Reynosa, Mexico. Bill and Patricia loved to travel. They visited Europe numerous times and enjoyed many family vacations. After Patricia's death in 2006, Bill lived at the Frank Tejeda State Veterans Home in Floresville, Texas and moved back to San Antonio this spring to be closer to family and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Patricia L. Stucky. He is survived by his children; Eva & Gary Kratts of Knoxville, TN, Elizabeth and Scott Adamson of San Antonio, TX and Katie and Chris Smith of San Antonio, TX; six grandchildren Andrew Smith, Matthew Smith, Leah Smith, Gretchen Kratts, Natalie Kratts and Samantha Adamson and his three sisters and their husbands; Mary Ann and Bob Dusbabek of Waterville, MN, Eva and Mel Schulz of Sun City, AZ and Jane and Jerry Downs of San Antonio, TX. A memorial service will be held Friday August 22nd, 2008 beginning at 9:00 AM at Concordia Lutheran Church, 16801 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX 78258. Interment will follow beginning at 10:45 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, any memorials be made to either the Boy Scouts of America, Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, 2226 N. W.
