William James Morrison Jr.

August 26, 1979 — September 6, 2023

Schertz

William James “Billy” Morrison, Jr., 44, was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on September 6, 2023 at his home in Schertz, TX after a 22-month battle with Glioblastoma.

Billy was born on August 26, 1979 to William Morrison, Sr. and Diana Morrison in Anniston, Alabama. He attended school in Clear Lake, Houston and graduated from high school in Enid, Oklahoma. Billy attended the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX majoring in Early Childhood Education, while simultaneously working several jobs to make ends meet. In 2002 he became a student teacher at Elolf Elementary in Converse, TX where he met Anna Kretzmann. Anna and Billy married on December 18, 2004 and began their happily ever after. Billy went on to teach at Masters Elementary in Judson ISD and Sippel Elementary and Schlather Intermediate in Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. He was a beloved teacher for over 20 years in both school districts, winning the Distinguished Educator Trinity Award for Excellence prize in April of 2014. Mr. Morrison will be remembered for his passionate and inspirational style of teaching and connecting with his students through his humor and wit. Billy also motivated countless individuals to lead a healthier lifestyle as a fitness coach, always leading by example.

God blessed Billy and Anna with six beautiful children through the gift of adoption. Billy was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed family trips to Disney World, the beach, and beyond. His favorite family vacation was to west Texas in June 2021 as he led his family through Big Bend National Park, seeing the Marfa lights, and weathering a thunderstorm on Hancock Hill in Alpine. After his cancer diagnosis Billy was still able to travel to Uvalde for a Thanksgiving family getaway and to Waco for a post-Christmas trip in December of 2022.

Billy was an active and faithful member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, serving in various capacities including a Sunday School teacher, a member of the Board of Education, and most recently as an Elder. His faith led him to strive to be a light to others, yet he was always keenly aware of his need for forgiveness and salvation from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Billy is survived by his wife, Anna, and their children: Joseph, Daniel, Mikea, Adrian, Rebekah, and Katy; his mother Diana Morrison and his father William Morrison, Sr. and his wife Kim, and his siblings: Rudy Reyes, Leilani Sifuentes, Tracy Morrison, Branden Morrison, Tresa Griffith, Nicole Druillard, and Kellie Holan. Billy has numerous nieces, nephews, and one great-niece whom he loved and adored. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Frances Zamora.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Upbring.org, an organization that provides foster and adoption services in Texas as well as other services such as Disaster Response and Community Education.
