William Finley

William R. Finley, age 85 passed away at home on Friday November 4th 2022 in Marion, Tx. He was born on December 18th 1936 in Danese, West Virginia to John S. Finley and Mary D. Lewis. Preceded in death by parents John & Mary Finley, sister Mangola Finley, & brother Johnnie Finley.

William is survived by his wife Shelva J. Finley of 68 years of marriage and his three children; Debbie Finley, Ron (Brenda) Finley, and Terry (Tami) Finley. Along with seven grandchildren; Brittany Finley, Brandon Finley-Rangel, Allison Finley, Reid Finley, Evan Finley, James Estrada, & Keith Estrada; and seven great-grandchildren.

William (Bill) joined the Air Force in 1953 and served almost 24 years. He retired as a Chief Master Sergeant and was a Vietnam war veteran. William also worked for 21 years of civil service. He loved going to the Nascar races and was a die hard Dale Earnhardt fan. He loved to travel and to hunt & fish in his earlier years and loved being outside. He always took great pride in decorating his yard every year for Christmas and loved for people from all over to come and witness it. He also loved music and loved singing along to the jukebox.

William was a member of Marion Baptist Church and loved the Lord. He was the most kind, hard working, and honest man. He would help anyone in need and his family and friends knew that very well. He always had a way of making everyone laugh and feel happy. He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

The funeral services will be held at Schertz Funeral home in Schertz, Texas. Visitation will be held on Friday November 18th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and the funeral will be held on Saturday November 19th at 11:00 am open to family and friends. The interment will occur at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for the family.
