MSG William Patrick Breckenridge

June 16, 1948 — January 21, 2024

In loving memory of MSG William Patrick Breckenridge, who passed away peacefully on January 21, 2024, at the age of 75.

Bill was born on June 16, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Henry Wilford Breckenridge and Juanita Elizabeth Watkins. Throughout his 53 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Janet Breckenridge, he exemplified the true meaning of a loving husband and father.

Bill served his country with pride and honor in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1988, earning multiple awards and ribbons, including the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Ribbon. His dedication to duty reflected not only in his military service but also in his unwavering commitment to volunteer work.

A compassionate soul, Bill devoted his time to various causes, including volunteering at his church, Meals on Wheels, and the local Food Pantry. He enjoyed woodworking and making his family’s favorite banana bread. He was very patriotic and always displayed the American flag with pride.

Beyond his service and love of volunteering, Bill was a devoted Spurs fan, win or lose. However, his greatest joy came from cheering on his four grandchildren at their numerous sporting and dance events. His love and support were a constant presence in their lives.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Janet Breckenridge, and their two daughters and their husbands: Angela and David Pencsak, and LeAnna and Jeremiah McKinney. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Hector Gonzalez IV, Leah Gonzalez, Karis McKinney, and Lance McKinney. Bill is also remembered fondly by his siblings, Patricia Heavner and Carol Breckenridge, and a host of other family members and friends.

Bill's departure leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be a source of inspiration, love, and strength for those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to shine brightly in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Let us remember Bill not with sorrow but with gratitude for a life well-lived, filled with love, service, and moments that will be cherished in our hearts forever.
