The Lord called Wanda Faye (Myers) Foltz home April 10, 2024. She is survived by her spouse Stanley Foltz and their children and grandchildren: Son Todd (wife Susan), and grandchildren Mitchell, Harrison (wife Alyssa), and Patrick; Daughter Heather and grandson Reilly and granddaughter Emma. Todd and family live nearby in New Braunfels, TX. Heather and family live in Norwalk, Connecticut and will be present for the funeral. Wanda was the foundation in the family, covering all aspects of the household when Stan was deployed overseas twice for a year at a time. Her ‘wife’ and ‘mother’ roles turned into a ‘father’ and ‘college student’ role, as well. She became a CPA who worked at USAA, a major national insurance carrier. Stanley was an Air Force major and retired in 1986. Wanda retired in 2007and they began many exciting adventures together.
Wanda and Stan travelled extensively via cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, and the Mississippi River. They travelled all over Texas, with many trips to Branson, Missouri included. Vacations with their children and grandchildren happened every year, with stops in Orlando, Boston, San Francisco and the Texas coast. Throughout these travels, antiquing became a hobby, as is evident by the many treasures found in their home.
Wanda was very active in her community and volunteered her time in support of many functions.
An avid reader, Wanda volunteered in support of the Garden Ridge Library two days a week for over 6 years.
Wanda also liked to crochet. She made lap rugs, wheelchair covers, beanies, Afghans, etc. for active duty and retired military. She volunteered her time to Soldiers’ Angels for 5 years.
She volunteered her support to many additional organizations, as well: Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Secretary, 3 years; Forest of Garden Ridge Homeowners Association Treasurer, 3 years; Texas Association of Bass Clubs, Treasurer 2 years; San Antonio Metropolitan League of Bass Clubs Treasurer, 3 years; Universal City Bass Club Treasurer, 10 years; Alamo Bass Club Treasurer, 3 years.
