Virginia Vandeventer

Virginia Vandeventer of Converse, Texas passed away on September 24, 2007 at the age of 82. She was born September 22, 1925 to William Engelhardt, Sr. and Marguerite nee Rauch on the family farm in the Barbarossa community in Guadalupe County. She attended Santa Clara School and was baptized and confirmed in Redeemer Church in Zuehl, Texas. Virginia loved to sing and dance and was seen at many of the local dance halls in her youth. She was employed at Alamo Iron Works in the early 1940s. A young airman, Harry Jack Harbour, entered her life and they married in 1946. After his tragic death in 1956, Virginia was employed for over 20 years in the Accounting Department of Winns Stores, Inc. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Elvira Behrens, Laurine Ullrich, Monroe Engelhardt and William Engelhardt, Jr. She is survived by her sisters, Clydell Witte, LaVernia and Thelma Joslin, Dallas; brother, Elmer Engelhardt, San Antonio; sisters-in-law, Helen Engelhardt and Etta Mae Engelhardt, San Antonio; numerous nieces and nephews and former husband, Van Vandeventer. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 28, 2007 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
