Victoria Hinog Engracia

February 25, 1950 — July 21, 2025

Victoria "Evic" Hinog Engracia, age 75, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on February 25, 1950, in Tangub City, Philippines, Victoria was the cherished daughter of Delapaz Cortes Hinog and the late Bertoldo Hinog. She was lovingly known as “Evic” to her family—a name that reflected her warmth, strength, and the deep bonds she shared with those closest to her. Victoria was the third oldest of fourteen children, and from an early age, she embraced the values of responsibility, tough love, and loyalty that would guide her throughout her life.

On September 21, 1974, she married the love of her life, Ruben Engracia. Their story began at church, where he first laid eyes on her and was later introduced through a mutual friend. That divine connection led to 49 years of a loving marriage built on faith, laughter, and deep companionship. They affectionately called each other “Sweetheart,” and Victoria often said how lucky she was to have spent most of her life with him—and now, eternity.

Together, Victoria and Ruben were blessed with two daughters, Ester and Maria, and later, two grandchildren, Carter and Alexis. As her daughters lovingly shared, their parents unselfishly uprooted their lives to give them the ultimate gift: a better future. They instilled the values of unity, love, and resilience—and always emphasized the importance of family and togetherness.

Victoria treasured her large, close-knit family. One of her most heartfelt moments was saying goodbye to her siblings and beloved Lola when leaving Chicago—a goodbye she felt deeply but also considered a blessing, as many never get to say what needs to be said. Her love for family was woven into everything she did, from celebrations to quiet mornings with her husband over coffee—her favorite way to start the day.

She and Ruben adored their grandchildren and made every effort to build strong, lasting bonds with Carter and Alexis. The simple, joyful moments—gathering in bed with the whole family, dogs and all, just talking and laughing—were some of her most cherished. In those moments, she felt the fullness of what mattered most: love and togetherness.

Above all, Victoria’s greatest devotion was to God. Her faith was her compass. She began each day in thanksgiving and ended it in prayer, always seeking the Lord’s grace and guidance. Even in her final hours, she turned to the Lord, asking forgiveness and placing her trust in His eternal promises. Her family finds peace knowing He held her hand and welcomed her into His Kingdom.

Victoria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ruben Engracia; her father Bertoldo Hinog, her sisters, Lilian King, Lourdes Bechayda, and Marilyn Alajjo; her brother, Edgar Hinog; and nephews Rogen Hinog and Vicente Hinog Jr. She is survived by her loving mother, Delapaz Hinog, age 97; her daughters, Ester (Darren) Beasley and Maria Engracia (Mony Sam); and her grandchildren, Carter and Alexis.

She is also survived by her siblings: Milagros (Mario) Pabatao, Roberto (Genera) Hinog, Paz (Rodolfo) Besana, Teresita Hinog, Virginia Danguilan, Reynaldo (Beth Ann) Hinog, Ruel (Nori) Hinog, Rosemary Hinog (Jose Alan Gallego), and Vicente (Noradie) Hinog. She was a proud and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews, great-grandnieces and nephews, and lifelong friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Though her earthly journey has ended, the legacy she leaves behind—of enduring love, unwavering faith, and strong family roots—will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
