Toribio Cruz

We are heartbroken to announce the death of our father Toribio H. Cruz who peacefully died at the age 0f 85, October 19, 2022, at home in Schertz, Texas.

Born in Pearsall, TX, August 18, 1937, Toribio graduated from San Antonio Vocational and Technical School in 1956. It was in 1956 Toribio decided to enlist in the USAF where he served this great nation for 21 years. During this time Dad earned an A.A.S. degree from St. Phillip’s College.

He was married to the love of his life Julia Cruz for 53 years who passed away November 16, 2008. Toribio was survived by daughter Carrie Brownley and husband Dennis, sons Gabriel and wife Pam, Daniel and wife Rose and son Gary. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, brother Porfirio and wife Gloria and two surviving sisters Minerva and Teresa.

Our father enjoyed spending most of his time with his family. He also enjoyed bowling and going dancing with friends. Dad was always telling jokes and sharing special memories about the things he accomplished as a young man and memories of special times with his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Additionally, for two years Dad volunteered his time every Tuesday at the Schertz Senior center.

When it came to how he lived his life, there was no unfinished business. One of the greatest rewards he gave us was words backed up by actions. An example of how to live your life with integrity and dignity. If he was here today, he would feel uncomfortable reading this dedication about him.

The family would like to express our thanks for coming to honor Toribio’s memory. We invite anyone who knows our father to attend and remember his wonderful life.
