Thelma Belinda Olson

Thelma “Tammy” Belinda Leal Olson, a loving mother, sister and grandmother was received into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at the age of 67. Tammy was born on November 16, 1955 in Corpus Christi, TX to the late David H. and Estella (Longoria) Leal. Tammy received her associate degree from Del Mar College and was employed for the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District as a bus driver for over 15 years, and as a driver’s education instructor for RoadWorthy Driving Academy for over 5 years. 

Preceding in death by her parents: David H. and Estella L. Leal; brother: David H. Leal, Jr.; sister: Sylvia L. Hernandez; brother-in-law: Gilberto G. Hernandez. 

Survivors include her daughter: Tamara Guillen (Ramon Marines, Jr.) from Kingsville, TX; sons: Cameron Olson, Andrew Olson, Alexander Olson from Schertz, TX; sisters: Linda K. (Richard T.) Martinez, Deborah L. (Fermin) Sanchez from Corpus Christi, TX; brothers: David D. (Norma) Leal from Ingleside, TX; Dalbert R. (Belinda) Leal from Corpus Christi, TX; grandchildren: Michael A. Guillen from Alice, TX, Nicholas A. Guillen and Nathaniel J. Marines from Kingsville, TX; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  
Tammy enjoyed family gatherings, bowling with her friends, shopping, getting pedicures, and watching movies with her beloved furbabies Bella, granddog James David, and late granddog Nena. In her early years, she especially enjoyed camping, going to the beach and surrounding coastal areas, out of town trips, and fishing. She volunteered her time teaching CCD classes to small children and was an active member of her church. She very much enjoyed her time as a cub scout den leader when her boys were younger. 

Thanks mom for allowing us to share your life. We will always be grateful for everything you did for us and for the things you taught us. You will be greatly missed by all. 

A very special thank you to her Doctors, Nurses (Aubrey, Brittney), CNA (Jennifer), and Chaplain (Leo) at Elara Caring for their compassionate care of our mother. We are very grateful for their services as well as their friendship. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
