Susan Campbell Brown was born on October 15, 1945, in Fort Worth, Texas, and was raised in Harlingen, Texas. Susan graduated from San Benito High School and attended Howard Payne University. Throughout her life, Susan wore many hats, ranging from daycare owner to armed security officer. One thing that remained constant was her desire to live life to the fullest.
When Susan was not reading murder mystery novels or spending time with her beloved pets, she enjoyed traveling. Her favorite vacation was an Alaskan cruise, where she spent time with family, enjoyed delicious food, and explored the Last Frontier. She was always quick to say “yes” to an adventure, regardless of the details, which led to some interesting ordeals and lots of memory making with her family.
Susan passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, at her residence in New Braunfels, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Brown, and her children, Corby Brown (San Marcos, TX) and Catherine (Brown) Elkins (Schertz, TX) . Susan will be deeply missed by her family and friends; she was a fiery and spirited woman who was always quick with a joke to make you smile.
Anyone who knew Susan knew that she loved animals and cared deeply about rescue organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those wishing to honor Susan’s memory consider donating to Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas.
