Obituary

Steven Larry Tucke, known to family and friends as Larry, passed away on October 3, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 73. A lifelong Texan, devoted husband, father and grandfather, Larry will be remembered for his strong faith, love of family, passion for music, and his remarkable ability to solve just about any problem placed before him.

Larry was born in San Antonio at Wilford Hall. He attended elementary and middle school in San Antonio before attending Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi. During his years in Corpus Christi, he developed a lasting love for the Texas coast, a place he continued to enjoy throughout his life.

On June 7, 1975, Larry married his wife, Sheryl, in Kerrville, Texas. Together, they shared 51 years of marriage and built a life centered on faith, family, and the many memories they made along the way.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Tucke, his son, Jason Tucke; his son Jared Tucke and daughter-in-law Julie and their children, Fritz and Cliff; his sister’s family, Tamara and John Ramsey, nephew Matthew and great-nephew Miles; and his brother’s family, Gene and Sara Boyd, and nephews Steven, Austin, great-niece McKayla.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth "Mercy" Brewer; his mother, Sally Boyd; his stepfather, Gene Boyd; and his father, Kenneth Tucke.

Larry spent more than 30 years in sales, working as an outside sales representative for River City Bolt and Screw under Donny Perez. He took pride in his work and genuinely enjoyed helping his many customers find solutions to their unique problems. His knowledge, experience, and natural ability to figure things out helped him build lasting relationships with the people he served.

Music was another lifelong passion. Larry played the drums in his younger years and maintained a deep love for music throughout his life, especially classic rock.

Above all, Larry loved God and valued his relationship with Christ. He was a member of University Baptist Church in San Antonio, and his faith was an important part of his life.

Larry will be remembered as a man who loved his family deeply, enjoyed being useful to others, and could almost always find a way to solve a problem. He especially treasured his grandchildren, Fritz and Cliff. His legacy lives on in the family he loved, the faith he held, the music he enjoyed, and the countless memories, conversations, and moments he shared with those around him.

Though he will be deeply missed, the love he gave and the impact he made will remain with his family and friends for years to come.
