CMSgt (Ret) Stephen Thomas Sellers was called to our Lord and savior on Saturday August 6, 2022.
Steve was born in Boone Iowa July 2nd 1947 where he lived until he graduated from Boone High School in 1965. He soon enlisted in the United States Air Force and was first stationed at Homestead AFB, Florida; where he met the love of his life Annette; who he was married to for 50 years.
During his 30 year career he had several assignments including, but not limited to; Homestead AFB, Clark AFB, Fairchild AFB, Brooks AFB, and finally Randolph AFB where he retired after honorably serving.
Some of his proudest achievements in the Air Force were serving as a Survival/SERE Instructor and promoting to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. Steve was most passionate about his troops. Often lighthearted , Steve truly enjoyed teaching others. He was a true servant leader never forgetting to renforce that in the most dim situations sometimes a joke or two was necessary. During his enlistment he was recognized for many achievements and obtained his Associates Degree from the community college of the Air Force. Steve encouraged, supported, and mentored others by way of promotion, education, and always recieved admiration and respect.
Steves many hobbies included anything with outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he was proficient with firearms, loved working with natural earthly products and had the most interesting stories to share.
His most precious gift was his family and friends. In retirement he continued to teach and loved spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his Daughter Angela and Son in law Paul Bocconcelli. His son James and daughter in law Amy Sellers. Known as Pawpaw, he is survived by his grandchildren; Brittany, Ashley, Collin, Haley, Clayton, Austin, Harley, Amberly and MK, great grandchildren Jaxson and Amelia and brother in law Gary Meyers along with many other nephews, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife Annette, father James and mother Marjorie, sister Diane, and grandmother Hazel.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Friday August 26th, 2022 at 2:15pm.
