Stephen Bish

Stephen “Sleeven” Anthony Bish passed away on January 29, 2021 at his home in Cibolo, Texas at the age of 48. He was born on March 13, 1972 in San Antonio, Texas to parents, James E. Bish and Patricia A. Harbus. Stephen was mommy and daddy’s little boy, regardless of how old he got.

After graduating from Douglas McArthur Highschool in 1990, Stephen attended St.Phillip’s college. As an electrician, he worked for Corbo Electric, Bolner’s Fiesta, McKenzie and Quincy Compressors and Vantage Pump. Stephen was also a part of the City Council of Schertz and enjoyed camping, fishing, gaming, dancing, cheering on his favorite football team, the Greenbay Packers, working on cars, putting together model cars and all things Mopar. Most of all, Stephen loved being a grandpa.

Stephen liked to drive his car around like he was part of The Dukes of Hazzard. Years ago, a cop got behind Stephen in his car and instead of stopping, he kept pushing on the gas. He ended up receiving a $100+ ticket for going 110MPH – which he proudly showed off at Chrysler where his father worked. Steve was always the life of the party and loved making everyone laugh. He was the kind of person that would spend his last dollar on a person just to make you smile. Everyone would turn to Stephen for advice – it might not have been the best advice but at least you knew it was honest.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, James E. Bish; sister, Christina A. Smith; dog, Roscoe. He is survived by his wife, Maria Bish; children, Britney Bish, Jenny and Steven Munoz, Eric and Tinisha Portillo, Franklin and Bethany Portillo-Leos; grandchildren, Ariana and Kimberly Munoz, Cora and Ashton Portillo, Avery and Hazel Portillo-Leos; mother, Patricia A. Downes with husband, John E. Downes; niece, Kaytlin V. Smith and dog, Blue Moon.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00PM  - 8:00PM, with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00PM, on Friday, February 5, 2021 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. The Graveside Service will be at 10:30AM on Monday, February 8, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
