Stephen Michael Allen, 75 years old, of New Braunfels, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 28th, 2025.
Stephen was born June 6th, 1949 in Hawthorne, California to Donald and Lois Allen. He grew up in Southern California with his four siblings. He joined the Air Force when he was 17 and served for four years as an MP. After leaving the Air Force he followed in his father’s footsteps and learned the construction trade. He eventually became VP of Operations for Mission Peak Development, a Bay Area home builder, where he stayed for 25 years until he retired in 2011. He moved to Lake Almanor where he could pursue his love of being outdoors, fishing, boating, hiking, and golfing. In 2017, he moved to Texas to be nearer to kids, grandkids and extended family.
He loved to travel, sometimes quite impromptu, which led to many adventures while exploring some of the remotest parts of California. Some of his favorite trips were to Alaska, Yellowstone, Michigan and southeast Asia. He loved to camp and took his grandkids on multiple RV trips up and down California.
Stephen started researching his family ancestry during covid and it became a major fascination for him. He spent many hours on various genealogy sites and was able to trace his lineage back many generations. Hence, he also became quite an avid reader of history, especially Scottish and English.
Stephen used his extensive carpentry skills to build a treehouse at the lake house for his oldest grandson Maverick, a Western style cabin for his grandson Brendan at his home, and was always helping in some way with a repair or remodel project for the family. He loved to cook; it was his therapy after a long day at work, and he especially liked to cook meals for his family – whatever their favorite meal was, he was on it. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially when he could pester his Grandchildren and generally just spoil them.
He had a very quick wit and was always making up nicknames for everyone, cracking jokes and pulling pranks. His sense of humor provided great support for his family; he lived by the motto “life is too important to be taken seriously”.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Connie; his son Ethan & wife Jordan; daughter Autumn and husband Tom Rybak; and son John (Andy) and wife Vannessa. He has six grandchildren; Maverick, Brendan, Brooke, Patience, Rocklyn, and Spartan. Also survived by his brother Neal and sister Neita and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and brothers Larry and Ronald.
Stephen had a passionate heart for the Lord Jesus and, like King David, he was a man “after God’s own heart”.
“Above all things have fervent love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins”
- 1Peter 4:8 NKJV
Stephen loved deeply.
A private family service will be held at the home of the Rybak’s on June 21st.
