Shirley J. Birnbaum

Shirley J. Birnbaum, age 90, of Schertz, Texas, passed away on December 14, 2025. Born on June 25, 1935, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Shirley was the beloved daughter of Thelma Brackeen and Leonard Stegall. She dedicated her career to serving the community as a bus driver for Judson ISD and was a faithful member of the Country Church in Marion.

Shirley is survived by her loving daughter, Caroline J. Moore; granddaughters, Gillian Moore and Peyton Jurgensen; and great-grandsons, Caleb, Miles, and Owen Jurgensen. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Stanley Allen Birnbaum.

Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and the love she shared with her family and community. She was truly the center of her neighborhood, always bringing everyone together and fostering a sense of unity and warmth among her neighbors. Her home was a gathering place, and her welcoming spirit touched all who knew her. Shirley’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those who cherished her.

A Memorial Visitation will be held for Shirley J. Birnbaum on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Schertz Funeral Home at 12 pm. The Memorial Service will begin at 1 pm.
