Shirley Ruth Bauer (DeMontel) of Hondo, Texas, aged 83, passed away on Saturday, September 4th, 2021, surrounded by family in Schertz, TX.
Shirley was the second-born daughter of Oscar and Florence (Elder) DeMontel, born March 9, 1938. She married her husband, Harry Bauer Jr, on June 25, 1955. They traveled to Omaha, NE while Harry served in the US Air Force, where they had their two sons, Terry and Bryan. After her husband retired from the Air Force in Schertz, Shirley worked for the Schertz Cibolo Universal City ISD, as a beloved secretary at Schertz Elementary, Dobie Junior High, and Rosegarden Elementary. She retired from her career on March 31, 1993, where she then took on her beloved role as grandmother full-time.
Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister, Betty and her husband, Gerald, and her brother-in-law, Ronnie. She is survived by her son, Terry, and his wife Hazel; her son Bryan; her grandson Joshua, and his wife Jessica; her granddaughter Amy, and her husband Matthew; her granddaughter Sarah, and her husband Xavier; her nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She also leaves behind her sister, Peggy, and her nieces, Stacey and Wendy.
The Funeral Service will be held at 9:30AM on Thursday, September 09, 2021 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
