Sherel Martin

October 1, 1960 — July 24, 2021

On July 24 th , 2021, the Lord God Almighty called home His beloved angel, Sherel Rena Martin, to spend an eternity with Him.  Sherel entered her eternal home after a brief struggle with illness.  She fought the “good fight” battling her illness with grace and fervent faith in the healing hands of the Lord.  Sherel was born on October 1 st , 1960, in San Angelo, TX to Lonnie Edward Green, Sr., her loving father, and to Mary Louise Smith Green her beloved mother.  Sherel accepted Jesus into her heart and life at a very early age.  She remained committed to her faith in Christ and was an active member of the youth choir at her local church.  Anyone meeting Sherel knew that her faith in Christ was strong and real.  She was a genuine Christ-follower and leader.  Sherel had a way of influencing people to do the right thing for the right reason.  She was very consistent and straightforward with a character that always drew people to her.  In 1983, Sherel met her future husband, Leslie K. Martin, Sr. who was stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base.  Shortly after meeting and falling in love, the Air Force reassigned Leslie to Incirlik Air Base, Turkey. Upon his return to the United States, his next assignment became Holloman Air Force Base at Alamogordo, New Mexico.  Sherel immediately joined him there, where they were united in marriage, and she became a military spouse devotedly supporting her husband throughout his Air Force career.  Sherel and Les remained in love for the past 30 years.  To this union, the Lord blessed them with two children—Gregory Wesley Martin and Tasha Rena Martin.  They were joined by their step-brothers—Leslie K. Martin, Jr. and Brian Christopher Martin.  Sherel loved her family and friends.  She loved her family unconditionally to the utmost.  Sherel was a very talented hostess and cook.  She was a wizard in the kitchen and anyone who was able to sample her food knew they were dealing with a master chef.  She put love into everything that she did.  As a kindhearted soul, she often gave clothes and food to those in need.  Sherel was passionate in volunteering her talents to assist others in their time of crisis.  She loved to write, and she was a voracious reader.  She volunteered many hours serving on committees at church and assisting with school projects with her children.  Sherel is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Mary Green, her brother, Lonnie Edward Green, Jr. and her sister, Arlene Lovell Green.  Sherel leaves behind to celebrate her life and memory her beloved husband, Leslie, her children—Gregory and Tasha, her step-children—Leslie K. Martin, Jr. (Wife: Ty Martin) and Brian Christopher Martin (Wife: Chanel Martin), her brother—Keith Green, Sr. (Wife: Angela Lassetter), her step-sister—Lisa K. Rose, her step-mother—Glinder Green, her brother-in-law—John Wesley Martin, Jr., and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and a multitude of  genuine “ride or die” friends.
