Shelva Jean Finley, age 87, passed away on January 14th, 2024 in Marion, Tx. at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 11th, 1936 in Lookout, West Virginia to Thomas Flint & Margaret Morrison Flint.

Shelva is survived by her sister Betty Kayrouz. She is also survived by her three children; Debbie Finley, Ron (Brenda) Finley, and Terry (Tami) Finley. Along with seven grandchildren; Brittany Finley, Brandon Finley-Rangel, Keith Estrada, James Estrada, Allison Tribon, Evan Finley, & Reid Finley; and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, William R. Finley, parents Thomas Flint & Margaret Morrison Flint, sister Louise Butcher, brother William (Billy) Flint, sister Gladys (Boots) Samaroski, sister Mary Jo Flint, sister Norma Isaacs, twin sister Shirley June Whipkey, sister Margaret (Scotty) Henderson.

Shelva was a loving member of Marion Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. She never missed a service unless she was very ill. Her love for God was ever-present in the way she lived her life. Shelva worked 22 years for Motorola of Seguin, Tx. before retiring in 1995. She was the best cook in the state of Texas and all of her food was made with infinite love. You never left her house hungry and she always made sure that you left with some of her sweets!

Shelva was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, & friend. You could always count on her to be a listening ear when needed & to provide you with the biggest hug when you need it most. She was very hard-working, kind, trustworthy, & the most compassionate person you will ever meet. She took pride in her appearance and always had her hair, nails, & makeup done and always had the cutest outfits on and she truly was a fashion icon. She was so beautiful and anyone who ever knew her knew that.

She loved her husband William unconditionally and they were married for 68 years before he passed away in November of 2022. They had a love like no other; if you were ever lucky enough to witness the life that they built together, you were truly fortunate.

Shelva truly loved everyone and always enjoyed visiting and talking with her friends. She always had some homemade lemonade or sweet tea ready for all who came to visit!
