Sharon Kunka

Sharon Dee Ivie Kunka, 76, of Marion, TX passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023. She was born on June 6, 1946 in Shattuck, OK. She was the daughter of the late R.A. and Orpha Ivie. Sharon grew up in Follett, TX and graduated in 1964. She married Kay A Kunka in 1968 and received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science at San Antonio in 1978. Sharon was a registered nurse at Methodist Specialty and Transplant for 29 years. During that time, she served as a telemetry nurse, Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and as House Supervisor. Sharon learned to sew from her beloved Mamaw, Ruth Fleming, and she used all of her free time making quilts and sewing for herself and her daughters. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Kay A Kunka. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Bechtel and husband, Gerald Bechtel, daughter Sheryl Kunka and husband Ross Levingston, grandchildren Carrie Wilbert, Ryan Bechtel, Quinton and Payton Levingston, step-granddaughter Matilda Noah, great granddaughter Tinsley Bechtel; sisters Susan Kirby, Carol Hagg and Teresa Robison; and various nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private burial will be held on February 25 at Fairmont Cemetery. Friends and loved ones are invited to join the family at the Follett Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at 1:00 in Follett, TX.
