SFC Rodolfo Lopez, U.S. Army, Retired, went home to his heavenly Father in the early morning of December 23, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. Rudy was born to Juan and Maria Lopez on November 5, 1949 in Raymondville, Texas. He graduated from San Perlita High School in 1969 and joined the Army to serve in Vietnam. Rudy was stationed at SHAPE, Belgium when he met and married Renee Barbe with whom he had four children; Vanessa, Tristan, Angelica and Damon. Rudy was stationed in Arizona, twice in Germany and at Fort Sam Houston. On December 7,1984, he married Heather Anne Holcomb with whom he had two children, Justin and Nicole Lopez. He retired from the Army in 1991 and went to work at River Gardens Nursing Home in New Braunfels. In 1994, he bagan working at the GMF Post Office in San Antonio where he remained until he became ill in June 2007. He is also survived by his brothers, Roy, Juan, Gilberto, Ricardo & Rolando; sister, Gloria; grandchildren, Alisha and Christopher Dooms and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 & from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
