Saundra Faulkner

December 16, 1940 — June 29, 2021

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Saundra L. Bacak Faulkner, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all lives she touched.

On June 29, 2021 Saundra was called home peacefully in her sleep to the Lord. She lived a full life and we were blessed to share it with her for 80 years.

She was a free spirit with a warm and kind soul. She had a natural ability to turn strangers to friends and light up a room. She had a vivacious personality and always could crack a joke to make everyone laugh around her.

Born at Fort Sam Houston Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, she would self-profess that she was a "military brat" as she recounted living in different cities growing up. She attended Highland Hills School and San Antonio College and held several occupations including  Bexar County Sheriff Reserve officer, and bookkeeper, in which she retired as after 25 years.

Saundra had a love and a passion for researching the family’s genealogy and learning about her Czech heritage. She celebrated her ancestry by joining the Czech heritage society of Texas and volunteering as both an officer, and dance group member. She frequently volunteered her time at events highlighting Czech heritage such as the annual Texas Folk life Festival in San Antonio.  She had an endless curiosity in which she enjoyed learning and reading about countless subjects. She most frequently read books about history, animals, romance, and cooking. She was also a devout Christian who loved Jesus and studied both the bible and Hebrew.

Most of all she loved her family and instilled strength in her daughters and a love for the Lord. She was a dedicated and hands on grandmother who treasured her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She cherished and cared for all animals and was the proud fur-mom of her two dogs Lily and Bella.

She was the beloved mother of Sherry Huebner Snoga and Lori Huebner Gutierrez, dear mother-in-law of Charlie Gutierrez, adored grandmother of Steven Ortiz, Sarah Ortiz, Lauren Snoga- Serna, and Lindsey Snoga all from San Antonio, and cherished sister of John Williams, of Hawkins, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her father E. John Bacak, loving mother Ollie Bacak Treiber, and stepfather Alfred Treiber.

All whom loved her dearly will never forget her charm, wit, and kindness to others. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Our world was a better place with her in it.
