Sally Kinsey Macias

Cibolo

Sally Nevette Macias, 82, of Schertz, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, October 13, 2025, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Though she had lived with cancer for many years, this last recurrence came unexpectedly and progressed quickly. She faced it with grace, courage, and peace.

Sally was born on January 22, 1943, in Spokane, Washington, to Dorothy J. Fry and Karl Kinsey. She grew up in Seattle, Washington, where she attended Queen Anne High School in Seattle Washington before attending the University of Washington. From a young age, Sally displayed a sense of curiosity and adventure that would later define much of her life.

On March 1, 1979, Sally married Pedro in Ethiopia. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and exploration. Their journey took them across the world, sharing experiences that reflected Sally’s spirit of openness and wonder.

Sally devoted her career to the U.S. Department of State, where she served with integrity and distinction. Throughout her many roles, she was admired for her professionalism, steady leadership, and deep compassion for others. Her dedication to public service and diplomacy left a lasting impression on her colleagues and friends around the globe.

Outside of her work, she was also deeply passionate about genealogy, spending countless hours tracing family roots, preserving stories, and connecting generations through shared history. Sally found joy in the simple and meaningful parts of life—being a loving mother, caring for family pets, staying active in local politics, volunteering her time, and birdwatching at the breakfast table. She cherished every opportunity to spend time with family and friends, radiating warmth and making those around her feel valued.

Sally will be remembered as kind, gracious, and endlessly generous. Her open heart, gentle presence, and genuine desire to help others touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Sally is survived by her loving spouse, Pedro, children: Carlos, Elisabeth, and Pete Jr., grandchildren: Owen, Riley, Sophia, and Olivia, sisters: Bridget and Gail, and many nieces, nephews, close friends and extended family.

A memorial, including a viewing, rosary, and brief service, will be held on Tuesday, October 28th, at 11:00 AM at Schertz Funeral Home, located at 2217 FM 3009, Schertz, TX 78154.
