Celebrating the Life of Ruth Graham Hickman
June 3, 1938 – June 22, 2026
Ruth Graham Hickman, 88, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026. A woman of deep faith, vibrant creativity, and a genuinely warm spirit, Ruth brought joy and connection to everyone she met.
Born on June 3, 1938, in Malakoff, Texas, Ruth was the cherished youngest child of Hattie and Charlie Graham. After graduating from Malakoff High School, she continued her education at a community college, carrying a lifelong love of learning and community with her.
On August 25, 1967, she married William Terry Hickman, with whom she built a life centered on faith and family.
Ruth's heart belonged to her community, most notably through her deep involvement with the United Methodist Church in Universal City. She found great solace and joy in her faith, and her voice was a beloved part of the congregation, where she loved singing hymns.
An artist at heart, Ruth expressed her love for others through her hands. She spent countless happy hours creating beautiful handmade bookmarks, cards, notecards, and pictures, leaving behind tangible expressions of her warmth for friends and family to cherish.
Ruth truly loved people. She never met a stranger and thrived on connecting with others, bringing warmth and bright energy to every conversation.
Ruth is survived by her devoted son, Larry Hickman, and his wife, Tina; her cherished grandson, Zane Hickman; her stepson, Gary Hickman, and his wife, Ellen; and her grandson, Spencer Hickman. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Terry Hickman.
Ruth's legacy of kindness, creativity, faith, and fellowship will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
A visitation for Ruth Graham Hickman will be held on Friday July 3, 2026 at the United Methodist Church- Universal City, beginning 10 am. The Funeral Service will then begin at 11 am. Following the service there will be a procession to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery for a Committal Service beginning at 1 pm.
