Russell Wayne Real peacefully passed away on March 21, 2026, at the age of 49, with family by his side. He is survied by his loving wife of 10 years, but togetherness of 20 years, Shawnna Peek, daughter Cristal, mother Bernadette Real, brother Travis Real, sister Elizabeth Elbel along with his in-laws, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father Lawrence Real JR, grandfather Lawrence Real SR, grandmother Lorine Real, grandfather Laddie Michalec and grandmother Anita Michalec.

Russ was born in San Antonio, TX on August 15, 1976 where he was raised in St. Hedwig, TX throughout his childhood. After moving to Schertz for 10 years with his mom, brother and sister, his final residency was in Universal City, TX with Shawnna and Cristal.

Russ graduated Samuel Clemens High School in 1994, where he joined the ROTC and played the trombone in the band. Then pursued his associates degree from ITT Tech in 1996. Shortly after graduating he decided not to pursue his dream of working with technology but to join the big brotherhood and sisterhood of the towing world, where he found his true calling. He was very passionate and loved his family very much. Throughout his life he made many friends, which some turned into family. He loved taking his family out to try different restaurants. He was passionate about music and playing the bass guiter. He Loved spending the weekends watching football and hanging out with family.

As it is goodbye for now, we will carry his spirit and memories with us everyday.

A Memorial Service will be held for Russell Wayne Real on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the Schertz Funeral Home beginning at noon.
