Rudy J. Castillo

May 11, 1966 — November 21, 2025

Schertz, Texas

Rudy Jesse Castillo, 59, passed Friday, November 21st, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Though we were not ready and he fought to the end, God had a bigger job for him in Heaven. We will continue to remember, love and honor him here on Earth and be thankful for the time we had with him, though we will always wish it was more. His Visitation and Rosary will be held Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Schertz Funeral Home. It will be followed by Mass in his honor at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2025, at 11:30 AM. Mass will be followed by a reception at Catalano’s Restaurant in Cibolo, Texas.

Rudy was born on Wednesday, May 11th, 1966, in Sinton, Texas to Jesse and Alicia Castillo. He attended Sinton ISD schools, from grade school until his graduation. Though he was an exceptional athlete, his intelligence excelled him to earn the following: an Undergraduate degree at the University of Texas at Austin, his Masters degree from the University of the Incarnate Word, and his PHD from St. Mary’s School of Law. He worked with CPS for 20 years, and was currently employed with USAA as a Contract Negotiator, where he had been working for 6 years. Throughout his career, Rudy was always there to lend a hand to any of his coworkers whenever they needed help. Rudy enjoyed playing golf and watching football, always cheering on his favorite teams. He was married to Cynthia Ann Castillo and together created a beautiful family full of love and happiness. To him family always came first. He was such a selfless person, there was no limit to what he would do for his wife and kids.

Rudy is survived by his father, Jesse Castillo (Delia), wife, Cynthia Castillo, son Arthur Mata, three daughters, Alexandra Castillo (Jacob), Mia Mata, Lauren Castillo, his granddaughter, Preslee Blake Mata, mother-in-law, Yolanda Purser, sister, Tracey Castillo (John), nephew Benjamin Perez, and by a large circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Felipe and Olivia Castillo, his maternal grandparents, Lino and Aurora Deleon, his mother, Alicia Castillo, father-in-law, Buford Lee Purser and many other beloved family members.

Rudy is now resting after fighting hard to be there for his family. Through it all, he was not afraid of what the future held for him, he was afraid of leaving those he cared about most. Our lives will never be the same without him, he will never be forgotten. His family will continue to love and honor him and continue to make him proud.
