Rose Falcon Gonzalez, 74, of Schertz, TX, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 27th, 2026 surrounded by family. Rose was born on January 20th, 1952, in Houston, TX to Joe and Connie Falcon. Born and raised there, Rose was a charismatic spirit, always bringing laughter to her siblings and to those around her. Upon graduating from Milby high school, a family friend set her up on a spontaneous blind date, which turned out to be in God's perfect plan all along.
Rose then proceeded to marry the love of her life, Rene Gonzalez, and as he would say, "It was love at first sight" and their story is "one of those you can make a movie out of." Living in Houston for 40 years and raising her 3 children with her husband, Rose then moved and lived in South Padre Island, TX for 5 years, before moving to Schertz where she spent the remaining 29 years of her life. She worked as a bus driver for 25 years at the SCUCISD school district and was known to her kiddos as Ms. Rose before retiring in 2022. Rose enjoyed line dancing, music, salon days, road trips with her family, recalling humorous family stories, loved her precious pets, and of course spending time with her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Rene H. Gonzalez, her three children, Esther Quandt, Rene Gonzalez Jr., and Amanda Rose Gonzalezi, granddaughter Alyssa Jolie Quandt; her three sisters, Jeannie Powell, Joey Mikeska, and Christina Falcon, and her numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Connie E. Falcon, and five siblings, Gilbert, Alice, Rudy, Sylvia, and Ted.
Rose was a loving daughter, an outstanding sister, a devoted-caring wife, and a protective momma bear, calling her kids and granddaughter her cubs. Every meet-up, gathering and conversation with her will forever be a joyful cherished memory to those who knew her. May she continue to live through us all, even to those who had never gotten the chance to meet her. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and thank you, God, for being able to celebrate Roses' life together.
A visitation will take place at Schertz Funeral Home on Wednesday May 20, 2026 beginning at 5 pm, with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 7 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Thursday, May 21, 2026 at 11:30 am. Followed by the Committal Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:15 pm.
