Ronald Dunkle

Ronald Clifford Dunkle, 91, died on August 28, 2022 in Schertz, TX, following a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was born August 23, 1931 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Richard H. Dunkle and Josephine Ellis Dunkle.

He was raised in the Westmoreland area and was a 1949 graduate of Vinson High School. He joined the Marine Reserves and was sent to Korea in 1950. He fought at the battle at the Chosin Reservoir.

He returned to Huntington and was employed at Huntington Alloys (now Special Metals) for 35 years, before retiring in 1987.

He enjoyed bowling and playing golf. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball when he was younger. He was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Cleveland Browns. He also was a fan of Marshall University sports. He was active in the Marine Corp League and with the Devil Dogs.

Ronald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edna M. Dunkle, his son Brian Dunkle, his brother James Dunkle, twin brother Donald Dunkle, sisters Charlene Clark, and Eileen Manning.

He is survived by daughter Rhonda Clingo and son-in-law Bill Clingo, of Cibolo, TX, and daughter Lisa Dunkle of Charleston, W.V., Grandchildren Jennifer Clingo of Corvalis, OR, and Matt Clingo and wife Annabelle of Schertz, TX. Great grandchildren Lily Clingo, Benjamin Clingo, and Natalie Clingo of Schertz, TX. A friend James Rowsey of Mena, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks to the staff at New Haven Assisted Living in Schertz, TX for the wonderful care he received. No services are planned at this time.
