Rodney Birt

Rodney Karl Birt was born January 23, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas. He was the youngest child and most gifted of 11 to Harold Birt and Nickoline Lang Birt. After a long struggle of a weakened heart is now united with his much-loved mother and father on December 12, 2020 at age 57 in San Antonio, Texas.

Rodney graduated from Highlands High School 1981, serving as Class President. He was married 35 years to Joanne Moczygemba Birt, his one and only true love of his life. His son and best friend Eric James Birt was the pride of his life’s work. Rodney was a man of both art and craft. His soulful music and poems touched many in the world where his daily work as a carpenter with brother Billy that was Jesus’ early profession. Rodney’s love of golf and The Cowboys were right below those of wife and son. Rodney’s trademark southern style as an easy going and peaceful friend, has made him many life long lasting relationships. Rodney’s Catholic faith was always deeply felt throughout his life and gave him peace in his last days.

He is survived by 3 brothers and 7 sisters, Bruce Birt (Marilyn), Billy Birt, Jeffery Birt (Kitty), Judy Matull, Mary Crockett (Andy), Joyce Hulsey (Ben), Rebecca Kassner (Larry), Brenda Mireles (Dave), Jeanne Knotts (Tim), as well as many many nieces and nephews.
