Robert Swinney

June 11, 1981 — January 13, 2008

Our precious son and brother, Robert Travis Swinney, age 26, completed his earthly journey and was welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2008. Robert was born on June 11, 1981 at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. Robert, a member of the National Honor Society, graduated from Samuel Clemens High School in 1999 where he was very active in the marching and jazz bands. Pursuing scouting during his formative years, he proudly earned his Arrow of Light in Cub Scouts and his Eagle Scout Award from the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a member of the scouting honor society, the Order of the Arrow. Robert attended Angelo State University as a music major where he became a very accomplished trumpet player. A born businessman, Robert excelled in retail sales and customer service. He was known for his honesty and dedication to his customers. Robert owned a retail car wash service business which he operated throughout South Texas. He was currently employed with Water Park Experts in Seguin, Texas where he sold water park equipment and park management consultation to parks throughout the world. Robert proudly served with the Cibolo Volunteer Fire Department for three years and was honored with a Cibolo fire truck leading his processional to the cemetery. He is survived by Colonel and Mrs. Timothy (Lorraine) Swinney of Kathleen, Georgia; brother, SSgt Kyle Swinney of Schertz, Texas and sister, Lauren Swinney of Kathleen, Georgia. He is the grandson of Malford and Rosemarie Ackermann of Schertz, Texas, Ebilene Swinney of San Antonio and the late MSgt. (Ret.) Raymond Swinney. Extended family of aunts and uncles includes Beverly and Charles Jobe of Seguin, Dr. Albert Ackermann of Schertz, Hazel and Mitch Tucker of San Antonio, Janice Ackermann of Schertz, John and Julia Swinney of Austin, Texas and Steve Swinney of Garland, Texas. Robert enjoyed the company of numerous cousins and close friends from school, church and work. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at the Schertz Funeral Home on FM 3009 in Schertz. A celebration of his life service will be conducted by Pastor David Lindow and Pastor Andy Cook at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2008 at First Baptist Church of Universal City, Texas. Memorial donations may be made be made to the Alamo Area Council, Boy Scouts of America; First Baptist Church Universal City or The Gideons International. Your prayers and support have meant a great deal to our family. Isaiah 40:31 (King James Version) 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
