Richard Mcgibeny

October 1, 1945 — October 14, 2021

Richard Charles McGibeny was called home to Jesus on October 14, 2021 at the age of 76. Richard was born in Herkimer, New York to Alba Mae and Richard Henry McGibeny on October 1, 1945.

Richard met his wife of 54 years in McAllen, Texas at Klinck’s Drug Store while on Military leave. Richard’s mother, Alba Mae, who worked at Klinck’s, introduced Richard to his soon-to-be wife, Bertha, and they were engaged within 31 days of meeting one another. Richard and Bertha were married on April 30, 1967.

Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 22 years. He retired in 1983 as Master Sergeant.

Richard was a man who loved life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment. He was a kid at heart who had a zest for life and would cry at a commercial. He never touched a drop of alcohol, he swore only when needed and only in front of certain company, he drank tons of Coca-Cola, and loved everything Italian when it came to food. He loved these three things in this order more than anything in this world; his beautiful wife, his family, and Disney World. He loved sharing his passion for Disney world with his family as often as he could. He returned to the park as often as he could throughout his life.

Richard was proceeded in death by his parents. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Bertha McGibeny, and his four children: Richard Charles McGibeny Jr. and his life partner Lilly Mains; Dionne Marie and her husband, Jesse Mata; Stacy Ann and her husband Benny De Leon; and Randall Allen and his wife, Robin McGibeny; and 12 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren; younger brother, Ronnie McGibeny and younger sister, Linda Gayle Dunn and one fur-baby, Molly McGibeny.

A Visitation will be held from 4:00PM-6:00PM, with the Rosary being recited at 4:00PM, on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.

A Graveside Service, featuring full United States Air Force honors, will be held at 9:30AM on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
