Frank Dansby, age 80, of Spring Branch, Texas, born Richard Franklin Dansby on June 10, 1946 in Florida, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, September 7, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas, after unexpected complications from open heart surgery.

Fittingly, Frank passed away on Labor Day, and his intense work ethic and responsibility to family was evident as he started working at a young age. He worked multiple jobs in his teens, served in the US Army for a short time, worked at General Electric and Black & Decker for decades, and owned multiple deer ranches, as well as D&W Distributors, Inc. in Garden Ridge, Texas for over 30 years, taking pride in being one of the largest distributors of DeWalt products in the country. He retired in August 2022, when he slowed his daily pace and enjoyed relaxation and the best every season had to offer. He traveled much in his later years and when he experienced something delightful or new, he would say “give me a moment to take all of this in”, whether it be a sunset, a snowstorm or a big, beautiful tree. He enjoyed driving on back country roads and would stop to listen to a creek of rushing water and look for wildlife.

His hobbies included hunting and all things deer, attending sports events, especially Little League, playing 42 and cards, and socializing with lifelong friends over a good cup of coffee.

He enjoyed a bowl of blueberries just about every day of his life and credited that to his 80 years of pain free good health.

Frank was a very friendly and very generous man, had an honest nature, and had a laugh and welcoming smile that made his blue eyes even brighter. Needless to say, he will be sincerely missed, and thought about often, especially his patented hand shake.

He is lovingly survived by his family, including his wife of 10 years, Maria Galanis-Dansby; his daughter Judy Robinson; his stepdaughter Alisa Smith; his grandchildren Jackie (Abraham) Coronado, Jenna Robinson, Luke (Maria) Robinson, Lily Robinson, Kandi Dansby; his great grandson Levi Coronado; his sisters Mary Jo Danforth, Edna (Sam) Fulwood; his brothers-in-law Frank Galanis, John Galanis, Michael Galanis; many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends across the country.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Tom Dansby, son-in-law, Rayford “Rob” Robinson, and his first wife of 50 years, Carolyn Dansby, who he credited often with bringing him to know Jesus early in their marriage. Together, they started the Garden Ridge church of Christ, where he was an elder and fondly participated in Vacation Bible School for many years. Most importantly in his Christian walk, Frank hoped to be greeted at Heaven’s gate and to hear the Lord say, “well done, My good and faithful servant”. We are comforted knowing he died on the 7th day and at the 7th hour, the Lord’s number of completion.

Rather than sending flowers, please seriously consider making a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in memory of Rob Robinson, or supporting your local Little League team, or financially helping a young person on their education journey, or helping a good cause of your choice, as those resources could compound perpetually. The family would like to sincerely thank every single person, near and far, that prayed for Frank, as well as the many members of medical staff that made saving his life their highest priority. He is completely healthy, once again, in Heaven.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 10am – 2pm at Schertz Funeral Home at 2217 FM 3009 in Schertz, Texas.

A celebration of life, to include a meal, and memorial service with Preacher David Osteen officiating, will be held from 5pm – 8pm on Friday, September 25, 2026 at the Jay F. Feibelman Garden Ridge Community and Event Center at 9500 Municipal Parkway in Garden Ridge, Texas.
