Richard Allen Anderson

Richard Allen Anderson, 88, of Schertz, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. Born in San Mateo, California to Thelma & Herbert Guidi, Richard lived a life full of kindness, dedication, and adventure.
Richard was a devoted husband to his wife Nina of 50 years and a proud father to his children, Frances Watson and Michael Anderson. He cherished his role as a grandfather to five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
As a member of the United States Coast Guard, Richard served 30 active years as a Culinary Specialist retiring with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. During Richard’s career he served at many duty stations across the country to include many years on seagoing Coast Guard Cutters, Buoy Tenders, Patrol Boats and Lightship. His last duty assignment was as the Commandant of the Culinary Specialist School in Petaluma, CA. After retirement he drove charter buses in California, he then moved to Schertz, Texas and drove for the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD Transportation Department for 8 years.
Richard spent 30+ years adventuring and traveling the country with his wife Nina and their dogs in their motor home. They loved to attend rally’s with fellow campers, making irreplaceable memories and lifelong friends. Richard was also an avid bingo player with his wife always by his side. His warm smile and quick wit, always the jokester, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his wife, Nina; daughter Frances Watson and spouse Michelle of Bayville, NJ; son Michael Anderson of Nenana, Alaska; grandchildren, Trevor Frank and his wife Hannah of Easton, PA; Buddy and Samantha of Alaska; Liam and Owen Bolton-Watson of Bayville, NJ; and great grandchildren Sydney and Cooper Frank of Easton, PA.
The Funeral Service will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Schertz Funeral Home, with a procession to follow to Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
