Rebecca A Neer

1949-2026

Rebecca Ann Neer, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 77. 

Born in Kansas City, Missouri on June 1, 1949, to Charles and Mary Martha Ryan, she grew up in Houston, Texas. Though she was raised as an only child, Rebecca was overjoyed later in life to discover and connect with her sister, Darleen Staggs.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Robert Joseph Neer, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a bustling, vibrant family and shared a deep love for crafting, frequently working together on woodworking projects.

An entrepreneurial soul, Rebecca turned her love for history into a career as the owner of local antique shops. Rebecca knew how to enjoy life; she was always ready for a game of bingo and 3 card poker. In her later years, loved nothing more than setting sail on cruise ships to explore new destinations with her loved ones.

She leaves behind a massive, loving family who will forever cherish her independent spirit, including her children, Phil, Terri (Henry), Patricia (Eric), and Sandra (Steven); her sister, Darleen; her 13 grandchildren, Ali, Maggie, Jessica, Jackie, Janie, Christian, Elizabeth, Tony, Tiffany, Heather, Katie, Meagan, and Mark; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Becky’s love, friendship and wisdom will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Though she is no longer with them she will live on in their hearts forever.

A Memorial Service for Becky will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 11:00 AM, where guests can begin gathering before at 10:00 AM. A Graveside Service will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
