On October 26, 2026, Phyllis Ann (Jones) Spitzmesser passed away peacefully at home surrounded by those she loved and is now rejoicing in Heaven.
Born September 14, 1942, Phyllis was the 7th of 10 children born to Elizabeth and Charles Jones in a small rural town in Southern Ohio. Dick was by her side through her multiple battles with cancer and her eventual victory.

Phyllis retired from Crestview Elementary School after twenty-four years of faithful service. The friendships established there would remain strong throughout her life. She left an indelible mark on everyone she met and will be dearly missed.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter Racinda Vekasy (sp. David), sons Randy Spitzmesser (sp. Anna) and Rob Spitzmesser (sp. Jeanne), grandchildren Kelsey Miller, Weston Vekasy, Aaron Spitzmesser, Garret Spitzmesser, great-grandson Jaylen Miller as well as numerous nieces and nephews.,
Phyllis is preceded in death by her beloved spouse of nearly 60 years, Richard “Dick” Spitzmesser and parents Elizabeth and Charles Jones.
A celebration of Phyllis’s life will be held Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Schertz United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Pegasus Landing at Forest Ridge for the care and love they extended to Phyllis over the years. She loved all of her “Tinas” and their love for her was obvious.
Phyllis will be buried with her husband at a future date in a private ceremony at Ft. Sam National Cemetery.
