Peggy Joan Parsons

June 14, 1942 — March 9, 2024

Schertz, Texas

Peggy Joan (Stevens) Parsons passed away on March 9, 2024, while in hospice care at the Methodist Northeast hospital in Live Oak. Texas. Her family wants to thank the nurses and staff of both Compassus and Gentiva hospice for their loving care of Peggy over the past 6 months.

Peggy was born in Mingo County, West Virginia, the third of five daughters to Stallard and Avanell Stevens. She grew up in West Virginia and Kentucky until her marriage to her husband, Frank Russell Parsons. They lived in Michigan for three years and then moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1960.

Peggy attended beauty school and spent over 50 years working as a hair stylist in San Antonio and later Universal City. When she was younger, she was involved in archery and bowling with her husband, excelling at both sports. She served as an assistant Girl Scout master, a Theodore Roosevelt high school band parent and a member of the PTA at her daughter's various schools. Peggy was a highly skilled artist and participated in the Starving Artist program and sold her paintings to countries as far away as China.

She was skilled with oil and acrylic painting, pen and ink, and interior decorating. Peggy was particularly fond of painting landscapes, seascapes, farm scenes, and animals in Oil colors. In addition, Peggy loved to read, especially romances, historical fiction, and mysteries. She was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. Peggy was a breast cancer survivor from a bout of cancer that started in 2010. Anyone who knew her would say that she was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother, and she truly lived for her family and her church. Peggy was a devoted Christian her whole life and attended two Bible study groups at the Country Church in Marion before her illness confined her to home hospice care.

Peggy is survived by her husband Frank Russell Parsons, her daughter Roberta Parsons Broussard, her son-in-law David C. Broussard, her granddaughter Rhiannon E. Broussard, her grandson Alastair K. Broussard as well as dozens of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents and four sisters.

Peggy will be buried at St Paul's Cemetery at 162 E. Loop 539 in Cibolo, Texas where a graveside service will be held by Brother Butch Ikels from the Country Church in Marion.
