It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Paul Stewart Smith Jr. on Tuesday March 9th, 2021. Words cannot describe how any of us are feeling right now. He was taken from us far too soon, but we know we will see each other again someday. Anyone who knew him knew exactly the kind of loving, caring, friendly and genuine type of man he was. He was an amazing friend, son, brother, uncle, husband and father. Paul was the most happy go lucky person most of us have ever known and we knew how proud he was when he married his wife Rachel and even prouder when he became a father to Paul Stewart Smith III. He thought being a dad was the greatest job he would ever have, and he was the greatest dad ever to his little boy. We know that he knows his son will be well taken care of by his wife and by all his family. He was a 4th grade math and science teacher at Veramendi Elementary School with New Braunfels ISD. He absolutely loved all his students he has taught there as well as the students he has taught since his teaching career began 8 years ago. He would do anything to help his students out in any way he could. Paul loved his teaching job; a great teacher was lost but will remain with everyone who knew him. In addition to being a devoted husband, father, and teacher, Paul was a musician who loved playing his guitar and writing his own songs. He was also a big fan of Godzilla and even had a tattoo showing his love for Godzilla movies. Paul was also a huge fan of the Cowboys and stuck by them even when they weren't doing so well. But that's just how he was--loyal to those he loved. Paul, even though not with us anymore, is giving others a second chance by choosing to become an organ donor. He is going to be a hero to those who need this precious gift. He was an amazing man, and we could not be prouder of the choice he made to do this, and how he’s about to touch other people’s lives once again. We love him so much. This world will never be the same without him. We have our Guardian Angel looking down watching over us now. He will definitely be missed but never forgotten. Paul was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Antonio Barron and Jesus Enrique De Leon Sr., and his beloved dog, Piper. He is survived by his parents Paul Sr. and Annette, his brother Thomas, his sister Courtney, his nephew Giovanni, his wife Rachel, and his son Paul III as well as his cousins affectionately known as "The Twelve", aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2020 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00pm followed by the funeral service.
Refreshments & pastries will be provided. The funeral home requires that all those in attendance wear masks.
