Olivia “Vique” Virginia Iruegas Perry went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 15, 2020 in Converse, Texas at the age of 95. Olivia, the youngest of 3 children, was born on November 17, 1924 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico to parents Teodoro Iruegas Cardenas and Virginia Chavez de Iruegas.

Vique married John “Jack” P. Perry on August 1, 1955 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and traveled extensively throughout their time together. She was a United States Air Force wife and was very involved in the NCO Wives Club for 25 years. Vique and Jack traveled across Europe and were stationed in various parts of the Untied States, including Texas, California, Illinois, Louisiana and Puerto Rico. They lived in Humble, Texas for 11 years before returning to San Antonio, Texas in the early 1990s. Vique was a housewife and an Avon representative – she had made the Avon President’s Club for many years. She enjoyed keeping up with local politics, writing letters of opinion to editors and was very involved in activities with her local church.  Vique was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, and was a long-time member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Schertz, Texas.

Vique was preceded in death by her parents, Teodoro and Virginia Iruegas; brother, Raul Iruegas Chavez; and sister, Armendina Iruegas de Salinas.  She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, John P. Perry; son, John T. Perry with wife Peggy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 in the Schertz Funeral Home Chapel.
