Olga Villarreal

Olga Griego Villarreal, aka “Gallito, OGV, and Meme,” was called by the Lord and earned her wings on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 75. She was born on March 3,1947 in San Antonio, Texas to Luis Griego and Adelina Huerta.

Olga was a single mom who worked as the sole provider for her family. She lovingly took in her dad, cared for him for many years, and provided the same care for her mom. Olga was a nurse aide and later worked as a chef at the Oak Hills Country Club, construction with HUD, as a cook at Days Inn, ButterKrust Bakery, and as maintenance for the COSA. She returned to helping and caring as a provider for many seniors in San Antonio for En Su CASA.

Olga is preceded in death by her father, Luis Griego, her mother, Adelina ’Lina’ Huerta, and brothers, Benito Perez and Luis ‘Wicho’ H Perez.

Surviving daughters Jean Griego and her partner Cynthia A. Torres, Janiece Hooper, her husband Ernest Hooper, and Debra Ytuarte. Her grandchildren, Mark Soliz and his wife Ilia; Vince Soliz and his wife Christy; Elizabeth Hernandez and her husband Gabriel; October Hooper, Autumn Hooper, Liam Hooper, and foster granddaughter Azaleah Diaz Moreno. Her great-grandchildren are Sabella Soliz, Dalilah Soliz, Duke Soliz, Presley Soliz, Zoey Soliz, Roscoe Soliz, and Paulina Hernandez. Also by her sister-in-law Bertha Zapata Perez, nephew Louie Anthony Perez, niece Lori Ann Perez, and mom’s precious cat Nickie.

Meme, her given name by Polly Torres, had other immediate and extended family. Robert Rodriguez, Rudy Rodriguez, Eloise ‘Lochie’ Ramos, and spouse Rose Ramos; Cindy Perry Amaya, Larry Torres and his wife Kris; Shirley ‘Lola’ Torres, Rudy Torres, Stephanie Slabisak, Marcela Pontrich and her husband Adam; Aubrey Joy Torres and her partner Christopher, Rudy ‘Pa’ Torres, Megan Mackie, Sarah Leija, Christopher Torres, Brandon Slabisak, Adrianna Escalera, Camilla Garcia, Dimonah Pontrich, Samara Pontrich, Cynthia Mazzagardi Cassiano, Gramo Lilly, and many friends.
